‘Intelligent’ technology within Domino’s A420i CIJ model promises to deliver lowest total cost of ownership of any inkjet printer.

Domino’s A420i continuous inkjet (CIJ) coding solution has been fitted with a new i-Tech (intelligent technology) service-free ink system designed to deliver low makeup usage, reducing costs and operator intervention. In addition, a series of new variants developed to suit a wider range of applications and challenging production environments has also been added.

CleanFill cartridges can be changed while the printer is in operation and the larger volume makeup cartridges provide extended runtime between changes, while the Qube ink system containing ink and ink filters can be changed in less than 10 minutes. As a result production uptime of is maximised with fewer interruptions and less waste.

More variants

Domino has also introduced a series of new variants to the print head, including the Duo, a twin jet for high speed high volume applications, Pinpoint for precision coding, an extended six metre conduit for easier integration, and a high performance and fast drying black ink for low energy plastics.

Where modern production lines require the delivery of multiple codes at very high speeds, the new Duo print head offers the capability to produce multiple lines of text at high production speeds. Its twin jet print head and new compact gunbody are designed to meet the requirements of high output production environments such as canning and beverage applications.

The Pinpoint delivers micro-print as small as 0.8 mm in height onto very small components for applications where codes must be both discreet and of high quality, such as the electronics, pharmaceutical, automotive parts and cosmetics and personal care sectors.

Adding further to the capabilities of the A420i is a new fast drying 2BK024 black ink. Developed for use on a wide range of low surface energy plastics, the composition of the 2BK024 ink provides high adhesion properties onto polypropylene, thermo plastic olefins (including BOPP, OPP), PET, polyethylenes (including HDPE and LDPE) as well as an increasingly varied range of multi-layer flexible packaging materials.

The A420i model can also offer a 90-degree angled print head and a longer six metre flexible conduit to enable integration of the print heads into the most difficult and limited spaces within the production line.

The extended application range now provides the most comprehensive and versatile offering of new specialist and custom inks that have been designed to optimise performance in the most demanding of environments. These include washable and moisture resistant inks for the beverage sector, thermochromic ‘colour changing’ inks for the food canning industry, inks with high adhesion and anti-abrasion properties for PP and PE surfaces as well as fully compliant specialist inks for the food and healthcare industries.

Nick Plaister, CIJ director, commented, ‘Being able to deliver quality coding to meet the ever-increasing demands at production speeds of product manufacturers is a key driver for Domino. The i-Tech productivity enhancing features integral within the A420i really enables this model to ‘do more for less’.  Not only does it deliver optimal performance, the lowest total cost of ownership of the A420i provides real operational benefits to the manufacturers. In addition, our latest print head variants further extend the capabilities of the A-Series range in terms of delivering quality output within a host of challenging production environments.’

The A-Series range of CIJ coding solutions comprise the A320i and A420i models both of which incorporate the latest array of i-Tech enhancing features.
