Westpak Oy Ab has recently purchased an HP Indigo 20000 digital press, which will be fully installed by June this year. The company, which was established in 2008, plans to grow its business and add new customers to its roster by offering more flexibility and opportunities with short runs variable printing.

As part of its transformation to adopting new technology, Westpak purchased the HP Indigo 20000 to build on its existing high-resolution printing capabilities. It cited less start-up waste, the ability to print on a variety of materials, less cleaning of printing tools and reduced use of solvent ink as some of the many benefits of the digital technology.

‘The constant evolution of the packaging market makes it a very interesting business to work in, as product life cycles become shorter, volume and complexity of designs continues to grow, and variable printing is at the hands of customers,’ said managing director Jonas Skuthälla. ‘We see very interesting opportunities for our customers with this new investment and we will continue to invest in new high-quality opportunities to ensure an excellent service. This purchase also lowers risk for our customers with market introductions. We see ourselves as a service provider, not only a film supplier.’

The press was bought through Visutech and is intended to primarily serve the food industry. Westpak also plans to build a network of designers and content producers to offer its customers a complete solution to their packaging needs.
