One of the two label presses due for launch at Labelexpo in September
A joint venture between Swiss companies Bobst and Radex has resulted in the formation of a new digital competence centre. This initiative, trading under the name Mouvent, was presented to the press at an event in Switzerland. Three newly developed inkjet presses for labels and textiles have also been introduced.
Bobst said it has launched Mouvent AG with technology start-up company Radex AG to realise its digital transformation vision for the future and offer printing presses with low production costs and total cost of ownership.
‘We truly believe this is a watershed moment for the future of digital printing independent of the industry or market,’ said Jean-Pascal Bobst, CEO of Bobst Group SA. ‘Current industry trends […] are driving demand for high quality and affordable digital printing machines. Through Mouvent we aim to initiate a quantum leap in this area, ultimately providing the market with what it needs most; highly reliable industrial digital printing on different substrates at a competitive cost.’
Under the new brand, Bobst will introduce inkjet presses, both UV and water-based, for a vast range of markets and applications, starting out with textiles and labels. The presses feature drop-on-demand Fujifilm Samba printheads with Mouvent’s own ink delivery system and proprietary technology, built into cluster modules that can be combined to extend the print width. Running speed is up to 100m/min printing in 1200 x 1200dpi native resolution (2000dpi optical resolution) on all types of substrates. The first presses have been developed for labels and textiles with flexible packaging, folding cartons and corrugated also planned.
Two seven colour UV inkjet presses, the 170mm wide Mouvent LB701-UV and 340mm LB702-UV, will be shown at Labelexpo in September after which they will go into beta testing. The company also showed plans for the equivalent water-based label presses for food safe printing.
