A flexo press with a difference was installed at Mark Andy’s UK demo centre in Macclesfield last week. This is an older refurbished model with a new digital inkjet module, a Mark Andy Digital +3600 integrated.

The hybrid press offers both flexo and digital inkjet printing in one machine via a retrofit digital printing module integrated onto the flexo press. It is one of three digital solutions now sold by the company, which also has the Digital One toner-based printing system and the larger Digital Series modular press platform.

Dave Telken, who is vice president for aftermarket services, and Brook Hollo, sales engineer with Colordyne Technologies, had come over from the US to help introduce the new product to the UK market. Mr Telken said, ‘We entered into a partnership with Colordyne Technologies last year to offer the Mark Andy Digital +3600. It is part of our Digital Plus programme that offers retrofit solutions to flexo printers so they can take advantage of all the benefits that digital printing brings. We’re very excited to be able to demonstrate its strengths right here at our UK facility, and the response this week has been fantastic.

‘In the last year, it has become clear that if you don’t have a digital engine, you’re not going to be a player in the market. Retrofitting the +3600 to an existing press is a relatively inexpensive way to add digital to your arsenal and produce high speed, high quality labels on demand,’ he said.
