A second Xeikon CX3 has been added to the digital department
Abbey Labels in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, has started another major investment programme that will see five new investments in 2017. The first two, a Xeikon CX3 digital label press and an AB Graphic Digicon 3 converting line, have now arrived.
‘We feel that with the growth of Abbey Labels over the last two years, we needed to maintain our high service level and product standards to our customers. Therefore we have not only continued investing in our equipment, but also our staff and our production facility,’ explained chairman Tom Allum.
The new press is the company’s second Xeikon CX3, adding to the first machine, which was installed in 2016. This is complemented by a new Digicon 3 enabling Abbey to maintain its quick turnaround and high quality service.
More staff in administration and in production have joined the company during the first few months of the year. Further production space has also been created to accommodate the expansion of the digital department.
‘Our customers are placing embellished and multi-sort label orders on a more regular basis, and therefore further administration and increased production capacity was needed. The new staff and more space will easily fulfil this demand and also give us plenty of room for further growth this calendar year,’ said Mr Allum.
