Inline die-cutting and the ability to use current labelstock were important factors in the decision to invest in the PicoColour
Aylesbury-based Xpress Labels has placed an order for a PicoColour UV inkjet press from Dantex Group.
The self-adhesive label manufacturing company, which was established 16 years ago, wanted to add digital to its in-house printing capabilities to maintain its reputation for supplying customers with the finest quality products with short lead times.
‘We looked at other digital presses, but the PicoColour offers high print quality as well as all the other features we were looking for at the right price point,’ said Rob Bagley, commercial director. ‘One key driver for us was the inline die-cutting. We were offered a tailored package with no bolt-ons. It will suit the work that we do and will integrate well with our business.’
He continued, ‘The PicoColour’s ability to use any media was a particularly important factor in our decision-making process. We can continue to use our current label stocks, which is a huge bonus! We will not need to buy a material coater or use specially coated materials to use our new digital press. This will not only be more cost-effective, but will also save on space and will enable us to run more jobs, more quickly.’
With a printing width of 210 mm, the PicoColour runs at 35 m/min with UV-based inks in CMYK plus white. Installation is scheduled for this month.
UK sales manager at Dantex Martin Hill said, ‘With the majority of printers under market pressure to offer the benefits of digital print – shorter runs, flexibility, quick turnaround and cost effective label solutions – the PicoColour is ideal for Xpress Labels. We look forward to working closely with their team on this initial installation and to help them meet their current and on-going printing requirements.’
