Kenya-based packaging provider, Digital Packaging Innovations Ltd (DPI), has made the first African purchase of an HP Indigo 20000 digital press in order to enter new markets.
‘With the first HP Indigo 20000, we are proud to put Africa on the map,’ commented Kunal Chandaria, sales director, DPI, ‘and to be able to provide the best solutions for customers’ needs. Digital printing is clearly here to stay, and on-demand short to medium run length capabilities are the future of the industry.’
The 740 x 1100 mm image format of the press allows it to work across a range of applications, from labels and flexible packaging to shrink sleeves, in-mould labels and folding cartons. Requiring zero set up and offering minimal waste and easy versioning capabilities, it will help to make the company’s short print runs profitable.
The sale was supported by HP’s local channel partners in Kenya, Elite Digital, along with HP’s regional representatives. The press is set to be installed later this year, alongside an AB Graphic Digicon 3000 finishing unit, which will provide DPI with a complete end to end packaging solution.
‘We look forward to continuing our partnership with HP into the future as we work to bring Africa to the next level of digital printing,’ added Mr Chandaria.
