John Seitzinger (L) with the Domino N610i UV inkjet label
Pennsylvania based Xodebought a N610i seven colour digital UV inkjet label press straight off the Domino stand at Labelexpo 2016.
The company has been a manufacturer of custom labels and converting, and distributor of adhesives, abrasives, tape products and services since 1967. The Domino is Xode’s first industrial-sized digital press and was bought to expand its range of job options.
‘We have flexo and a small entry level digital printer, one that accommodates printing 2500 labels or less,’ explained Pete Seitzinger, president. ‘Any jobs that require more than 2500 labels, we put on our flexo. However, not all label jobs are designed for flexo, especially those with multiple SKUs and versions, so we really need the digital capabilities that the Domino will provide.’
‘For example, we have customers who come to us with jobs that have 200 SKUs, 5000 labels per SKU, printed CMYK,’ said John C – Pete’s brother and the company’s vice president. ‘Plate costs to run those flexo can be in the tens of thousands of dollars, not to mention the 40-minute makeready time to changeover from one version to the next.’
The new press will also open up capacity in the flexo department. ‘By having the Domino we will be able to do more and in less time. Turnaround time for repeat jobs that were two weeks, as well as new jobs that take us three weeks, all will now be completed in less than one week,’ said Mr Seitzinger.
