Xeikon’s FDU will be part of The Digital Finishing Experience at Labelexpo Americas this September
A brand new area at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Centre in Illinois will feature live machinery demonstrations by Xeikon and Delta ModTech.
The Digital Finishing Experience has been established to highlight how converters can take full commercial advantage of short run opportunities in label and packaging personalisation, seasonal variations and product fragmentation.
Xeikon will be premiering its Flatbed Die-Cut unit (FDU), which is designed to fit in any digital production process for carton, tags and sheetfed labels. The 2000-sheet per hour flatbed system can handle sheet sizes from 400 x 400 mm up to 530 x 1000 mm and a maximum die-cut size of 490 x 700 mm. Substrate thickness can range from 160 to 890 microns for paper and carton board and micro flute corrugated board can also be finished.
Delta ModTech’s Spectrum Finishing System features tight tolerance semi-rotary die-cutting, high speed output and on the fly changeovers. Using the company’s Intelli-Mod control system and touchscreen HMI, operators can change over quickly from job to job. The control system also includes print to die registration software that will automatically adjust the die-cuts to print variations.
Real time technical demonstrations of the machinery will be held daily at 11.00 and 15:00, and at 11.00 on the show’s closing day.
Tasha Ventimiglia, event director, Labelexpo Americas, commented, ‘The finishing process is where converters can really stand out in a crowded market place by showing their skills and ultimately offering added value services to their customers. The working demonstrations will give visitors a good idea of just how easy, effective and valuable it is to incorporate a digital finishing process into their business.’
