The family owned Nazareth-based packaging printer has doubled in size by taking over Altrif Label, a Dutch company in the same sector.

Altrif, based in Roosendaal, the Netherlands, produces multilayer labels. St-Luc specialises in self-adhesive labels, folding cardboard, shrink sleeves and – as of recently – flexible foil packaging. The 90-employee company will now double in size to achieve an annual turnover of around €40 million.

As there was no possibility of passing on ownership of Altrif within the family, the owner went in search of a suitable candidate to take over the business. He found the perfect party in St-Luc Labels & Packaging, a fellow sector member that is also family owned.

‘While many of our customers are in the food and cosmetics industries, Altrif focuses more strongly on the petrochemical industry,’ said Niko Dhondt, managing director, St-Luc. ‘With their booklets and multipage labels they have specific areas of expertise that we do not yet have. And we, in turn, can add our cardboard packaging and shrink sleeves to the range of products offered by Altrif.

‘The plant in Roosendaal will continue to exist, the staff will remain on board and the name Altrif will be maintained. Dion Goderie will be able to safeguard continuity in the position of operations manager and as a co-shareholder’, Mr Dhondt added.
