The new larger DM-Liner model was introduced at drupa

Tunbridge Wells-based NXP Europe is the first customer worldwide to invest in the new B2 format Kurz DM-Liner finishing machine, which was launched at drupa.

The technology combines digital printing with a coating- and metal-transfer process to create metallised surfaces. NXP already has a smaller DM-Liner machine, which has been working alongside their HP Indigo presses to offer high quality personalised packaging, unique metallic effects and personalisation in foil.

Peter Doyle, owner and managing director, said, ‘With the Kurz DM Liner, we instantly saw the superior foiling quality achievable. The machine easily handles fine detail and point sizes as well as production speeds that are comparable to our Indigos so production bottlenecks will never be an issue. The ‘pay per stamp’ pricing model is a proven and understood concept for digital printers and being able to track foil usage online, with automatic foil replenishment just makes stock management of the machine easy.’

Kurz also introduced a DM-Liner for UV ink at the show offering the same benefits to printers using UV inkjet technology. The Digital Metal decoration step can be performed either before or after digital or offset colour printing.
