A new SRI finishing machine has been installed at Abbey Labels
One of the leading label printing companies in East Anglia, Abbey Labels has added new machinery to boost quality and increase the range of products on offer. Following the acquisition of a Xeikon CX3 digital press, it has now invested in an Omega SRI slitter rewinder inspection unit, which features an automatic camera checking system.
The SRI, supplied by AB Graphic International, uses servo drive technology combined with PC/SPS-based control to offer the latest in finishing and converting to allow the company to offer more products, boosting quality and decreasing turnaround time.
Running at rewinding speeds of up to 350 m/min, this latest investment includes a fully integrated FleyeVision camera inspection control system. The machine quality checks and counts each label individually; if a faulty label is detected, it automatically slows and stops to present the affected label to the operator for either removal or replacement.
Managing director Barry Pettit said, ‘This is another investment by Abbey Labels to improve quality and increase the product range we can offer our customers. With our new camera inspection system, we can guarantee the quality and quantity of every label that goes through the machine.
‘Our product offering has increased with the introduction of the SRI as our new machine can handle and slit the thinnest of label materials. We envisage job completion time will be improved as well as we can now generate a report of each job for customers to review.’
