HP Mosaic variable design technology is bringing new life to established brand
One million chocolate bars, each with a unique wrapper, have recently hit the supermarket shelves in Israel. The wrappers were created using HP SmartStream Mosaic variable design technology from only 17 original seed patterns. They were printed on an HP Indigo 10000 digital press by local print provider, Ilan Print Ltd, using EPM mode and duplex printing.
Facing increased competition from imported brands, Strauss Elite wanted to breathe new life and attract attention to its original Cow brand, which was first launched in 1934. Sales of the new version are expected to be 10 times higher than the standard chocolate. ‘I am not ordering 1 million pieces of the same unit, I am ordering 1 million different units,’ said brand manager, Talya Babai.
For more consumer engagement, the chocolate wrappers can be folded into an origami paper sculpture of a cow, hence the campaign name: Origamoo. Pictures of the finished result can be shared on social media and win prizes.
