Colombia-based Topasa is the latest label specialist to acquire a Xeikon CX3. The decision complements the company’s growth strategy, which includes a planned move to a new facility.
Luis Carlos Lopez, president and CEO, said, ‘We decided on the Xeikon CX3 because of its very high quality, high speed printing, and its ability to produce a wider range of products for our customers. These are characteristics that will make a difference when it comes to optimising our workflow and offering better alternatives for our customers.’
As part of its growth strategy, Topasa is moving from Medellín to a new location in Guarne, Antioquía. The new facility will be equipped with a new physical and technological infrastructure designed to meet quality standards, such as those specified by ISO and GMP.
The outcome of such investments will enable the company to extend its customer reach and develop new market niches, allowing a 50% increase in square meters of labels produced per month.
Mr Lopez stated, ‘The new press helps us to speed up delivery times and ensure high definition image quality for our self-adhesive labels. The speed of the press, its print quality and number of available colours, its full rotation printing technology and dry toner electrophotography were all important considerations in making this investment decision. Its printing speed of 30 m/min makes the five colour label printer the fastest in its class, while its true resolution of 1200 dpi ensures the highest quality on a wide range of substrates. It already accounts for 30% of our production.’
The company has continued to evolve and adapt to changing market dynamics, which includes adopting all necessary measures to help large consumer products companies implement new label options that better address changing consumer buying behaviour.
