This entry from The Label Makers took the digital trophy at the FlexoTech Awards 2015.
The Label Makers was declared the winner of the digital labels and packaging category at this year’s FlexoTech International Print & Innovations Awards in London in October.
The winning label was produced for Portobello Road Gin on the company’s Xeikon 3300 digital press and finished on its ABG Digicon adding silver foil effects.
The digital category has grown significantly in the last few years. Technical editor, Sean Smyth, who was drafted in to help judge the category, said, ‘It was good to see many more entries for the digital production category, and most interestingly not just labels with flexible packaging examples showing how the technology is broadening the applications. Entries were extremely high quality, with innovative pre-press effects, variable data, versioning and high value finishing making the judging task daunting.
‘The winning design featured very subtle tints and effects to create a Fine Art aged effect, embellished with fine foiling to produce the uniquely numbered individual label sets – just like being in Victorian London.’
