The Albéa team at the press handover

Albéa Americas Inc has chosen a Durst Tau 330 UV inkjet system for printing on laminate tubes. The company is a service provider of beauty and personal care products and it had been faced with decreasing batch sizes and subsequent increasing cost pressure for some time. The solution was to introduce a new production technology that provides flexibility as well as economic efficiency regardless of the batch size.

Following an evaluation process of extensive test runs and product sampling of both toner technologies and UV inkjet, Albéa opted for the Durst Tau 330. A number of factors influenced the final decision, including the high productivity of the press and large colour gamut, which covers 90% of the Pantone colours, as well as the ability to print opaque white in a single pass and ink adhesion. The low migration UV ink system, which is available for the Tau 330, meets the stringent criteria for printing on primary packaging.

‘The Durst Tau 330 is our answer to the challenges we currently face,’ said Roy Turner, vice president and general manager at Albéa Americas Inc. ‘The premium print quality and the operating efficiency were the decisive factors for us. The Tau 330 is a solid and robust construction, designed to operate 24/7. Our system comes with seven colours and is equipped with the low migration ink. These features open up new market opportunities for us, in addition to our standard products.’
