Product manager, Sean Moloney, took part in the debate on the future of corrugated packaging at the Packaging Innovations show, where he explained the advantages of inkjet printing
Supplier of corrugated equipment, Sun Automation is launching its CorrStream machine series, which is an industry first in single pass, aqueous inks on corrugated materials.
The company is about to debut the first of its three CorrStream industrial digital single pass full colour corrugated printers. The printers promise to offer the corrugated converting sector unrivalled speed, efficiency and print quality, bringing inkjet to the industry as a real alternative to traditional analogue methods.
As well as the key ability to ease the pressure on box makers’ costs at the lowest batch levels, the CorrStream printer allows for increased value added through print as well as the opportunity for convertors to reduce or remove traditional costs, such as origination and plate making. In addition, further opportunities exist for corrugated to align with other packaging media to provide solutions for brand owner/retailer seasonal or event-based on-shelf promotions that require, for example, short run or variable print capabilities.
Sun’s Global CorrStream product manager, Sean Moloney explained, ‘CorrStream is the realisation of industrial, single pass digital printing in corrugated and has the potential to be a real game changer.
‘We are seeing the benefits of inkjet in other areas of packaging and we are proud to introduce a robust and reliable machine solution that many box makers will find familiar in use. We look forward to demonstrating not only the printer but also the workflow opportunities that exist as converters aim to capitalise on the new opportunities now present through this technology.’
