Corby label printer, PeterLynn, has purchased a second Omega converting line, the Digicon-Lite, from AB Graphic International as a simple finishing solution for varnishing.
The new machine joins a higher specification Digicon Series 2 installed by the company in 2012. Established in 1985 the company supplies a wide range of markets including the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage and beauty industries.
Vicky Waine, sales and marketing manager, said, ‘The investment in this new equipment was to meet the demand from new markets for varnished labels, particularly from the micro brewery industry. Due to the increased rate of production from our digital printing press and with the additional work solely converted on our existing Digicon, we required additional finishing capacity. The new Digicon-Lite is used for all our varnish jobs, freeing up our Digicon Series 2 for more complex hot foil, spot colour and laminating work. Our customers benefit from the improved lead times and we can now often meet last minute requests and deliveries within 48 hours.’
The Digicon-Lite was developed to meet simple digital label converting needs. The system includes 700 mm unwind with automatic tension control, electronic web guide, full rotary flexographic coating station, UV curing, semi-rotary die cutting station, waste matrix removal and slitting. The model supplied offers a 25.5 inch repeat and is equipped with electronic dispro.
‘The selection of the Digicon-lite was based on our experience with the first Digicon line supplied by AB Graphic International,’ added Ms Waine. ‘We found installation and training went smoothly and our production team find the equipment straightforward and easy to learn and operate.’
