Jean-Marie Peters, owner of Label’Or, with his son Pascal and the new press
Label’Or in Belgium has expanded its digital production capacity by installing a second Xeikon 3300 digital press. ‘We are particularly happy that we made the shift to digital. It has completely changed our business and given it a new drive,’ said the owner, Jean-Marie Peters.
Established in 1977, Label’Or is located in Lontzen in the province of Liège, which borders Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Germany. This successful family business was started by Jean-Marie Peters and his wife Monique, and is today managed by Jean-Marie and his son Pascal.
The company initially specialised in traditional techniques like flexo and letterpress for self-adhesive label printing, but the interest in new digital technologies gradually grew. In 2008, the choice for digital was definitively made with an investment in the first Xeikon 3300, a good decision according to Jean-Marie Peters, ‘We are particularly happy that we made the shift to digital. It has completely changed our business and given it a new drive.’ Recently, a second Xeikon 3300 has been added to the company’s production fleet which also includes a broad range of post-press equipment, two letterpresses and several hot stamping presses.
Over the years, Label’Or has built up a solid reputation as label printer for a wide variety of customers – both in Belgium and abroad – of which over 50 % are in the food and beverage industry. This played an important role in the company’s decision to work with Xeikon. Not only is the Xeikon 3300 particularly reliable and easy to use; the QA-I toner ensures the printed labels are compliant with FDA food approval regulations for indirect food contact and even direct food contact for certain applications.
Real partners
There were more motives for choosing Xeikon again. According to Pascal Peters, ‘Xeikon is more than a supplier, it is a real partner which looks for the best solution together with its customers.’ Both companies share the same attitude towards their customers. Label’Or listens and advices, so customers get what they really need, the right label that makes the product stand out. Quality, service and reliability are the basis of a good customer relationship, or as Jean-Marie puts it, ‘We are a partner to our customers – for all jobs, from large and medium sized to just one personalised label. We want to give our customers what they need, not only today but also in the next hundred years.’
And like Xeikon, Label’Or provides a total service – from printing to post-press and finishing. Consequently the company is also specialised in refining labels through embossing and hot foil printing.
According to Filip Weymans, Xeikon director segment marketing labels and packaging, the Belgian printer is a top example of an innovative company that easily adopts to new developments. ‘Label’Or successfully switched to digital printing and the Xeikon 3300 perfectly matched the requirements that Label’Or had at the time. We are very pleased that Jean-Marie and Pascal have again chosen a Xeikon press to expand their production capacity.’
