Label’Or in Belgium has expanded its digital production capacity by installing a second Xeikon 3300 to increase its offerings to the food and beverage market.
The label printing press is suitable for roll widths up to 330 mm and runs at a maximum speed of 19.2 m/min, enabling a production capacity of almost 400 msq/hour.
The company is located in Lontzen in the province of Liège and borders three countries; Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany. The family business was established in 1977 by Jean-Marie Peters and his wife Monique, and is today managed by Jean-Marie and his son Pascal. The company initially specialised in traditional techniques like flexo and letterpress for self-adhesive label printing but interest in new digital technologies gradually grew.
In 2008, the choice for digital was definitively made with an investment in their first Xeikon 3300, a good decision according to Mr Peters, ‘We are particularly happy that we made the shift to digital. It has completely changed our business and given it a new drive.’
Now a second Xeikon 3300 has completed the company’s production fleet that also includes a broad range of post-press equipment, two letter presses and several hot stamping presses.
Over the years the company has built up a solid reputation as a label printer for a wide variety of customers both in Belgium and abroad, of which over 50% are in the food and beverage industry. This played an important role in the company’s decision to work with Xeikon. The manufacturer’s QA-I toner ensures the printed labels are compliant with FDA food approval regulations for indirect food contact and even direct food contact for certain applications.
According to Pascal Peters, ‘Xeikon is more than a supplier; it is a real partner who looks for the best solution together with its customers.’
This was important for Label’Or, which takes its customer service very seriously and promotes an ethos that listens to, thinks along and advices with its customers to get the the right label that makes the product stand out.
Mr Peters said, ‘We are a partner to our customers, for all jobs, from large and medium sized to just one personalised label. We want to give our customers what they need, not only today but also in the next hundred years.’
According to Filip Weymans, director segment marketing labels and packaging at Xeikon, the company is a top example of an innovative company that easily adapts to new developments. ‘Label’Or successfully switched to digital printing. The Xeikon 3300 perfectly matched the requirements that Label’Or had at the time. We are very pleased that Jean-Marie and Pascal have again chosen a Xeikon press to expand their production capacity.’
