CS Labels of Willenhall purchased a new Xeikon 3050 press at drupa – the company’s third digital machine. Simon Smith, managing director of CS, commented: ‘We have now removed all flexo capability and will use digital to drive the business forward.’

The 3050 press prints a 508 width at 9.6 metres per minute and can be upgraded in the field to the faster 3500 machine with a top speed of 19.2 meters per minute on stocks up to 250 g/m2. It incorporates an in line densitometer and a single pass opaque white.

Xeikon reported selling some 25 presses at drupa, half of them for labels and packaging. Another 3050 press will be going to Faret, a Chilean label converter specialising in folding carton packaging. This is the converter’s first digital press and it will be used to meet the growing demand for shorter runs in the folding carton market in Latin America.
