Domino has announced that the full colour N600 press has been in beta testing at a north European label converter, and the tests are progressing well with saleable jobs being regularly produced. The unnamed converter has significant experience with digital production, and Domino has a letter of intent for a second installation providing the first passes the acceptance tests.
It is also reporting installations of the mono imprinting system, the K600 in label and tag production at Hermann Meyer, a German company that sells garden equipment. It is using the K600 in a roll to roll configuration to print specialist tags and labels. These include static PDFs and variable data as barcodes and numbers onto plastic material such as PVC, PE and Tyvek. It is printing jobs from 40 linear metres up to 650 metres, with 40 to 50 different jobs produced each day.
The new solution is replacing some conventional printing machinery. It comprises two K600 print bars allowing 220 mm wide print integrated into a bi-directional roll to roll transport supplied by AB Graphic. It uses UV inks to provide good adhesion and flexibility onto the plastics, with a Corona treatment unit located before the inkjet head that can be switched on or off according to the requirements.
Hermann Meyer has the total freedom to place the designs wherever it is necessary.
The automatic cleaning station keeps the operator away from the inkjet heads. No manual intervention is required. Because of the automatic cleaning capping unit the heads are ready to print when started in the morning or after change of substrate. Some media is perforated, requiring a sensitive servo-driven device in order not to break the substrate.
