Slovenia-based LabelProfi has placed an order for the 200th HP Indigo 20000 digital press sold worldwide.
LabelProfi was founded in 1994 as a small graphic design and pre-press studio, and has since grown to a full provider of labels and packaging small and medium runs digital labels and flexible packaging.
The HP Indigo 20000 digital press will be installed in Slovenj Gradec in October, alongside LabelProfi’s two narrow web HP Indigo WS6800 digital presses and label converting equipment.
The labels and packaging converter will use the 20000 to develop its new flexible packaging business. LabelProfi commenced flexible packaging production a year ago by installing the Karlville Pack Ready Lamination system to convert films printed on its HP Indigo WS6800 presses. This allowed it to diversify its business and tap into growing demand for flexible packaging.
The move to the 76cm-wide HP Indigo 20000 with Karlville converting enables Labelprofi to build a high-capacity, digital print for flexible packaging offer, covering a wider range of application and product sizes. Since launching flexible packaging services, LabelProfi has seen strong demand for short runs of various products, including films, pouches, sachets, wraparound labels and personalised print.
Uroš Slemenik, founder and CEO at LabelProfi, said, ‘We set a business goal to transform our label business by offering on-demand, sustainable flexible packaging with fast time to market.
‘With the new HP Indigo 20000 digital press we have the ability to extend our well-known service in the label industry to flexible packaging and continue delivering what our customers expect.’
Alon Bar-Shany, general manager, HP Indigo, commented, ‘Congratulations to LabelProfi for taking the next step in delivering quality, fast turnaround and customer satisfaction with the HP Indigo 20000 digital press. The sale of the 200thunit is a significant milestone. The solution is now developed for customers to easily scale into a complete digital pouch factory that can grow into new applications offering on-demand delivery.’
LabelProfi is now developing sustainable packaging options for the food industry. ‘Our customers want solvent-free, green packaging that can be recycled or even composted,’ said Mr Slemenik. ‘This year, as we celebrate our 25thanniversary, we are excited to enter into a new chapter of our successful story with the new business opportunity we see in digitally printed flexible packaging. We are confident in our market leadership and the local support we receive from HP to make it a success.’
