Barthel Group is assessing the option to implement 100% inspection across all of its presses, with the group’s fleet of HP Indigo digital presses next to receive the upgrade.
This follows success with Nyquist Systems’ TubeScan digital strobe for web monitoring. The first system was installed in 2013, with more systems installed in the years since and upgrades to TubeScan increasing the viability for 100% inspection across the group’s production.
Almost half of the Barthel Group’s 35 printing presses are now equipped with TubeScan systems. In addition, these systems are now used in several packaging machines for final inspection. Thus, in large areas of the company’s production process, quality is now inspected in two steps. This double assurance guarantees uncompromising zero-defect production.
Barthel Group is now considering equipping all its presses with 100% inspection with the next step being the nine digital presses, which mainly produce shorter runs and custom labels. The German label manufacturer has nine HP Indigo presses, including three added last year.
