US-based Great Lakes Label celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019, with founder and CEO Tony Cook continuing to lead the company into the future.
Based in Comstock Park, Michigan, Great Lakes Label was founded in 1994 after Mr Cook decided to establish his own label brokerage company after a brief period at a small labelling company in Grand Rapids.
Since then, Great Lakes Label has grown from a label brokerage into a manufacturing company that produces labels, distributes machines including The Label Gator, and provides installation and support.
It manufactures labels using flexo and digital presses. Its digital capability includes Primera Technology’s CX1200 digital label press and FX1200 digital finishing system.
Its CX1200 allows printing of short run, full-color, high resolution labels at 2400dpi resolution and up to a 203mm width. FX1200 utilises digitally-controlled tungsten carbide steel knife blades to cut any size or shape without dies. Finishing speeds of up to 6.1m.min are accomplished with Primera’s exclusive QuadraCut technology. QuadraCut uses up to four knife blades at a time across the web, increasing throughput compared to systems that use a single blade.
Great Lakes Label also has in-house departments including R&D, graphic design, art, and quality assurance. This ensures that all designs and labels are created, ‘with the newest technology, and produced at the highest quality.’
