Vivid Impact, a full-service graphic communications company serving leading American brands and retailers, has added an HP Indigo 12000 digital press to its equipment fleet to keep up with demand for digitally printed products
Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Vivid Impact offers commercial, wide format and on-demand digital printing, as well as custom packaging and cartons, fulfilment and kitting, and direct mail services.
The company ventured into digital printing with its first HP Indigo in 2011, upgrading and developing a customised web-to-print business based on the HP Indigo 7800.
Vivid Impact’s business is currently growing at 10% a year amid expansion in digital printing, now accounting for around 50% of production compared with only 20% a few years ago. To keep up with business favouring digital, Vivid Impact has now installed an HP Indigo 12000 that has taken over a sizeable amount of work from its offset production. Its installation will see an offset press decommissioned.
With the HP Indigo 12000, Vivid Impact can efficiently impose a higher quantity of jobs on the 20 x 29in sheet, including batching jobs, making for more competitive pricing compared with offset.
Brendan Kennedy, creative director at Vivid Impact, said, ‘Our customers want things fast, within a few days, and expect a proof in a few hours. Traditional printing requires make-ready, while on the HP Indigo we can run it with a click of a button.’
Coupled with digital printing, Vivid Impact offers virtual storefronts that has automated the order process. These portals enable customers to design and order print jobs, 95% transmitted directly to the company’s HP Indigo digital presses.
This has been a ‘great source of growth for the business,’ said Sam Campitella, vice president of sales at Vivid Impact.
‘In the last three years, technology has enabled us to create virtual storefronts for our customers to automate orders through a workflow, enabling us to react more quickly to serve their needs.’
