Koenig & Bauer (US) has welcomed more than 100 attendees to an event at which digital direct printing on corrugated board was in focus.
The three-day AICC E-Commerce Xperience event took place in Dallas, Texas earlier this month. Koenig & Bauer Durst, a joint venture between the two printing equipment manufacturers, hosted a pre-event reception on 18 February at the Koenig & Bauer (US) headquarters, providing the opportunity for networking between corrugated converters, staff and suppliers, while technical experts on hand to answer questions.
Robert Stabler, managing director at Koenig & Bauer Durst, welcomed the AICC delegates and said, ‘We congratulate you on joining this important seminar where you’ll learn more about the newest trends in e-commerce and see how our company is responding to changing demands in the corrugated board market that require rapid and flexible solutions.’
Mr Stabler went on to address the impact of e-commerce on the corrugated value chain. He provided insight into how converters should prepare for the industry transformation. This was supported by presentation of technologies such as the Durst Delta SPC 130 and Koenig & Bauer CorruJet 170. Samples were on display
‘There is so much at stake in our quickly developing digital packaging market,’ concluded Mr Stabler.
Michael D’Angelo, AICC president, commented, ‘The goal of the AICC E-Commerce Xperience was to bring together subject matter experts, brand owners, converters and suppliers to go in-depth on how best to be successful in this dynamic market. Entrepreneurial AICC members met and learned from the disrupters and challengers of retail, design, and box business status quo.’
AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, is the largest organisation of corporate members in the corrugated, folding carton and rigid box industries. Founded in 1974 for independent corrugated converters, it has since evolved to include independent packaging manufacturers in folding carton, rigid box, and other diverse segments of packaging.
The joint venture between Koenig & Bauer and Durst is a strategic move to combine the two companies’ strengths in the folding carton and corrugated markets. The first project will be the manufacturing of the VariJET press for digital folding carton printing, in time for drupa 2020.
