Michelman has joined the 4evergreen Alliance as it seeks to enable more sustainable packaging options for the circular economy.
4evergreen is a new alliance sponsored by CEPI, the Confederation of the European Paper Industry, and is a cross-industry body formed to boost the contribution of fibre-based packaging in a more sustainable and circular economy.
The three-year-long project brings together a diverse network of organisations and stakeholders throughout the value chain – including brand owners, suppliers, packaging converters and recyclers – to develop options for the future of fibre-based packaging. It serves as a forum to engage and connect industry members from across the fibre-based packaging value chain, from paper and board producers to packaging converters, brand owners and retailers, technology and material suppliers, waste sorters and collectors.
Other 4evergreen Alliance members include Nestlé, Danone, Mars, Stora Enso, Sappi, Metsä Board, UPM, Mayr-Melnhof Group, DS Smith, BillerudKorsnäs, Huhtamäki, Tetra Pak, Firstan, WestRock, Leonhard Kurz, Graphic Packaging International, AR Packaging, Van Genechten Packaging Group, and Sonoco.
Lisa DiGate, vice president, printing and packaging at Michelman, said, ‘As a supplier to companies throughout the entire packaging value chain, we want to help transition the industry into more sustainable packaging.
‘Our barrier coatings help improve fibre-based packaging’s functionality and performance while allowing it to be recyclable, which reduces waste and enables valuable fibre resources to be re-used many times.’
