Inkjet digital printing specialist Colordyne Technologies is celebrating 10 years in business serving the label and tag market by launching a new division focused on print engine development and innovation.

To be formally known as Colordyne – without ‘Technologies’ –, the new business unit targets strategic integration partners (SIPs) interested in adding inkjet technology to their products, which includes printers and presses for the label, flexible packaging, folding carton, corrugated, paper products, and commercial print markets, among others. It will offer print engines branded ChromaPlex, with three currently available – LT, AP and UV. These are available in multiple print widths ranging from 114.3mm up to 2590mm, as well as various configurations to meet specific colour channel requirements. Colordyne is to work with each SIP to build a tailored engine that meets their product and application specifications. A new corporate website, colordyneinkjet.com, has been created to support the  division and technology portfolio.

ChromaPlex LT is an entry-level aqueous pigment print engine best suited for web handling and integrated production systems running under 45.7m/min. ChromaPlex LT uses a single printhead to produce full colour, CMYK applications in both narrow web and wide web markets. This is made possible by the print engine’s modular design using either an A4 or A3+ printhead that can be stitched together for wider print widths.

ChromaPlex AP is optimised to be integrated with systems running at speeds up to 204m/min and can produce any volume production across various print markets. This technology builds on previous water-based inkjet engines, while offering enhancements including aqueous pigment inks for greater application flexibility and durability.

ChromaPlex UV is a UV inkjet digital print engine developed to produce high quality, durable labels for a wide range of markets including outdoor and industrial packaging. ChromaPlex UV uses multiple printheads to produce full colour, CMYK applications and includes the option to print white inkjet ink.

Custom ChromaPlex digital print engines offer aqueous pigment or UV LED inkjet printing, with scalable print widths.

Colordyne Technologies was founded in 2010 offering full-colour digital benchtop printers for label and tag production. Over the past decade years, the company has expanded its product portfolio and development capabilities to serve label converters, brand owners and private label manufacturers with a wide range of digital printers and presses. Prior to Labelexpo Europe 2019, the company announced several partnerships with SIPs to integrate Colordyne’s inkjet print engine technology into printers and presses. Based on the strong response from SIPs and other press manufacturers, the company decided to develop a new division dedicated to this focus.

Colordyne Technologies president Andy Matter said, ‘The benefit for SIPs is not just the engine technology. Colordyne Technologies brings 10 years of expertise in the inkjet industry allowing us to deliver rapid, low-cost development and integration services. Our focus has always been on inkjet and remains on innovating with inkjet technologies, but now we are able to help more companies take advantage of digital printing and deliver it to a wider range of markets.’
