Screen is developing new digital printing hardware, as it seeks to strengthen its foothold in the market for digitally printed packaging.
Screen is targeting the package printing market as a strategic business area, and is to progressively strengthen its product line-up and technology development for this area.
This will include the development of PacJet FL830, a new water-based inkjet printing system for flexible packaging and able to handle full-scale production applications. The PacJet FL830 is currently scheduled for release from around March 2021. PacJet FL830 can handle media up to 830mm-wide at speeds of up to 75m/min. It is capable of printing at a resolution of 1200dpi using CMYK and white water-based inks that conform to relevant food safety regulations.
In corrugated packaging, Screen has been working with German company BHS Corrugated since 2016 to develop a water-based inkjet printing option capable of delivering high-speed throughput of 300m/min at widths of up to 2.8m. The partners are creating the system in response to growing demand in the shelf-ready packaging and full-colour corrugated board markets.
Likewise, in the folding carton segment, Screen is cooperating with Inca Digital Printers for the development of a single-pass, water-based inkjet press. This system is being specially designed to support the transition to digital printing currently occurring in the segment.
The Truepress Jet L350UV SAI series has already been introduced, building on its established inkjet digital label printing platform.
