Domino Digital Printing Solutions is entering the digital corrugated printing market with X630i, its first inkjet digital press for corrugated printing.
X630i is a highly automated inkjet press, and prints at 75m/min using an aqueous CMYK inkset. It offers a 600 x 600dpi native resolution. Alongside the press, Domino is to launch a new ink set based on novel water-based ink technology.
These are set to introduce, ‘a new business model for corrugated box production,’ according to Matt Condon, business development manager at Domino.
Mr Condon explained, ‘The single-pass Domino X630i digital inkjet press has been designed for everyday corrugated production, allowing corrugated box printers to maximise productivity and efficiency, and minimise cost, ink consumption and waste. It will enable them to profitably develop short and medium run market opportunities; facilitate new streams of business and provide a more complete range of capability for their customer base.’
X630i will be formally launched on 16 June, 2020, which should have been the opening day of this year’s drupa event. In its place, a virtual launch is taking place on that day, and will be opened by industry expert, and Digital Labels & Packaging technical editor, Dr Sean Smyth. Mr Smyth will take a look at the corrugated sector market trends, the impact COVID-19 is having on these, and the growing trend to adopt digital technology.
