Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials has developed Global MDO Next Generation, a semi-squeeze film that offers brands and converters enhanced clarity, conformability and sustainability.
Global MDO Next Generation does not require a topcoat and comes out of production with shelf-ready clarity. Clear films can also be combined with printing and decoration techniques for greater design possibilities. Global MDO Next Generation can be printed using digital and UV flexo.
Global MDO Next Generation achieves a 60% improvement in clarity compared to the current Global MDO product. Combined with improved conformability across a wide range of squeeze requirements, the clarity that can be achieved enables ‘maximum creative freedom’ and allows designers to create a clear-on-clear ‘no-label’ look.
Global MDO Next Generation also offers enhanced sustainability. It is available with Avery Dennison’s CleanFlake adhesive technology, which helps to ensure it separates cleanly from PET containers during the recycling process. When compared to Global CO-EX film using the Avery Dennison Greenprint methodology, Global MDO Next Generation reduced energy, water use and waste by 22% and greenhouse gas emissions by 21%.
Riley Nay, film product manager, Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials, commented, ‘Global MDO Next Generation represents a significant advancement in our semi-squeeze product offering that was made possible by Avery Dennison’s commitment to continuous innovation. We’re constantly listening to feedback from our converter customers and brands. With improved clarity, conformability and sustainability, this solution offers brands and converters the opportunity to flex their creative muscle and deliver packaging that not only stands out on the shelf, but also addresses consumers’ desire for sustainability.’
