Narrow web printing specialist Mark Andy has signalled its intent to target opportunities amongst commercial printers in the UK and Ireland for its printing technology.
Specifically, Mark Andy will target opportunities for its Digital Pro 3 toner-based digital press among companies looking to diversify their product portfolio in pursuit of profit. With the coronavirus pandemic pushing down margins in commercial print and creating the trend to ‘pivot’ businesses in search of new revenue streams, Mark Andy sees Digital Pro 3 as a gateway technology for some as a way into labels and package printing.
Mark Andy UK director Ian Pollock commented, ‘We have researched this market sector carefully and see an opportunity to tap into a seam of interest at traditional commercial print houses that are looking elsewhere to grow their businesses.
‘Demand for package print is booming right now and our Digital Pro3 press offers a flexible production option that is ideally suited to short and medium length runs of labels and flexible packaging that are much in demand.’
Alan Shaw, business development manager at Mark Andy and the person who will be heading the company’s effort to target the commercial print market, said, ‘With the print market coming under increased pressure from all directions we know that many companies are actively engaged in some lateral thinking about their future business prospects.’
Based on a CMYK dry-toner print engine, the Digital Pro 3 offers inline converting and finishing. Optional features include flexo print/varnish stations with UV LED curing, laminating, cold foil, and die cutting, with an inline sheeter. With a web width of 330mm and running speed of 23m/min, the compact unit has a small footprint and requires only a single-phase power supply.
Mr Shaw continued, ‘Digital Pro 3 is great entry-level technology for those considering a diversification into the packaging sector – it’s easy to use, very versatile, and economical to run, with no ‘click charge’.’
