Print finishing specialist A B Graphic (ABG) has reported record orders for its DigiLase 4.0 digital finishing machine in 2020, fuelled by the e-commerce boom, itself a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.
DigiLase 4.0 incorporates state-of-the-art laser cutting technology, noted as ideal for sticker and label production direct from the web. A reduced web path and a decrease in the necessary lead-in/out material both help reduce waste, whilst the minimum job length through the machine has been reduced to allow maximum flexibility in short runs. With file downloading taking milliseconds, several jobs can be processed simultaneously, from unwinding to laser cutting and rewinding.
Launched in September 2018, ABG has installed numerous DigiLase machines, equipped with various configurations, around the world. Fuelled by the e-commerce boom, a record number of orders were taken in 2020. With web-to-print companies continuing to upscale their output substantially, according to ABG, sales are expected to be strong throughout the current year. In fact, a growing order book in 2021 will likely mean this is another record year, the company proclaimed. Many of these machine orders, which include ABG’s automatic workflow and DigitJet inkjet digital embellishment module, are currently in production and due for installation in Mexico, the US, the Netherlands, the UK and Germany, in the coming months.
Floriana Montella, DigiLase product manager at ABG, commented, ‘A case in point is one of our customers, custom stickers and labels business StickerGiant, based in the US, which has just placed an order for its sixth DigiLase 4.0 with fully automatic workflow.
‘We have a dedicated technical team comprising laser engineers, software developers and mechanical designers supporting DigiLase 4.0, and who constantly work on new developments and upgrades to suit customers’ needs. We are very excited about upcoming releases that we will be announcing shortly, including new options and increased speeds, so watch this space.’
With customers currently unable to visit trade shows or showrooms to see DigiLase 4.0 in action, ABG has an additional demo machine installed at its showroom in Barcelona, Spain, where customers can book a remote demo send their files to get customised samples.
Ms Montella added, ‘DigiLase 4.0 is without a doubt the most accurate laser machine on the market currently.’
