DTM Print has introduced a manual feed option to enhance the versatility of its Eddie edible ink desktop printer.
Eddie is the world’s first-and-only NSF- and GMP-certified edible ink desktop printer for printing directly onto cookies and other food items.
If used with the included carousel feeder, Eddie can print on food items such as cookies, candy, white chocolate, biscuits, marshmallows, chocolate lentils and more, with a maximum diameter of 89mm and a height of 20-25mm. The manual feed option extends these parameters to a maximum diameter of 120 x 120mm, and allows thicker items with a maximum height of 27mm to be printed.
DTM Print has also introduced custom trays to further increase the flexibility and versatility of the printer. A macaron tray, for example, allows bakers and pastry chefs to print onto finished macarons, which would otherwise have been unable to be handled using the automatic feed option owing to their size and delicate composition once assembled. Other new food trays include one for chocolate lentils and one with an engraved grid that makes positioning the food items easier as users can align their products to the grid. A tray with a generic grid and pins in order to fixate the contour of any desired shape is in development. Trays can also be produced according to specific customer specifications.
