The BoxMaker, a US-based specialist in digitally produced packaging, has purchased two Highcon Euclid 5C digital converting systems for its Washington and Arkansas sites to support its growing corrugated business.
The BoxMaker is known as an early adopter of digital production and is the first company in the world to have ordered two HP PageWide C500 digital printing presses.
The Highcon Euclid 5C digital cutting and creasing machine has been specifically engineered to suit the needs of packaging converters working with corrugated and fluted substrates, from 1-mm/40-120pt.
The system in Washington is already operating, at a monthly run rate of over 300 jobs, and the second is due to be installed in June at the Arkansas plant.
Richard Brown, president and co-owner of The BoxMaker and the company’s web-to-print brand, Fantastapack.com, said, ‘The addition of these digital cutting and creasing machines is already improving our production capacity, quality and speed of delivery. Not only does this technology allow us to produce new, differentiated structural design options, but it also contributes to our sustainability and waste reduction initiatives by substantially reducing manufacturing and set up time, eliminating physical die-cutting tooling costs and the required storage, while at the same time enabling ganging of multiple jobs on the same digital die. These abilities allow us to reduce lead times and offer our customers the agility and service they deserve while providing them with unlimited design innovation.’
Mike Ciaramella, vice president of sales and general manager at Highcon Americas, said, ‘The BoxMaker is recognised as an industry expert and thought leader in corrugated manufacturing. Its adoption of Highcon technology is a testament to the company’s belief in our solutions and the impact innovative, sustainable, cost-effective packaging and displays can bring to customers. We are impressed with the speed of The BoxMaker’s ramp-up and look forward to continuing our relationship.’
