Cincinnati-based Michelman has named Dr Richard (Rick) I. Michelman as its new president and CEO.
Founded in 1949, Michelman has served the print and packaging industry for more than 70 years by developing and applying sustainable and water-based surface modification technology.
Dr Michelman has been with the company for over 25 years, serving in many organisational roles over this time. Most recently he was chief technology officer and executive vice president for Americas and the Printing & Packaging business segment. Furthermore, his background as a chemist gives him a true understanding of the sustainable options Michelman continues to innovate with globally.
He succeeds Steven J. Shifman, who has held the role since 2003. Mr Shifman is to assume the role of executive chairman at the company. Mr Shifman led the company’s global expansion throughout his tenure, and it now maintains production facilities in North America, Europe and Asia, product development and technical service centres in several major global markets, and a worldwide team of over 400 highly trained professionals.
Both of Dr Michelman and Mr Shifman take up their new roles effective 1 January, 2022.
