Fujifilm has updated its technologies and services in an effort to further its position in the market for digital package printing.
This includes the launch of Jet Press FP790, new features for its 42K configurable inkjet imprinting system, and expanding its Integrated Inkjet Solutions business unit.
Jet Press FP790 is a water-based inkjet digital press for flexible packaging, building on the success of its existing Jet Press portfolio. Read more here. The new 42K printbar also builds on existing technology, by taking the Samba 42000 Printbar System as primarily used for direct mail and transactional imprinting, and introducing new features and functionality. These allow the application range of 42K to be expanded into markets including folding carton, corrugated packaging, and other industrial applications. The new system is suitable as an add-on inkjet printer, or as an imprinting device for hybrid printing.
Specifically, the 42K Printbar System is a single-pass inkjet printing option built to the desired print width by utilising as many Samba printheads as needed to meet production needs. The system’s expanded print width enables customers to print anywhere they desire across the press width. As a result, there is no need to reposition individual printbars or manage stitch zones as jobs change, noted Fujifilm. In a single row configuration, this system provides print speeds up to 300m/min, and in a dual row configuration, up to 548m/min. The system can be adapted into any number of different on-site workflow and software architectures.
New options introduced include automatic real time insetting, new digital front end options, simplified mounting configurations, a redundant printhead option for higher print speed or higher optical density, a four-colour configuration, a rotating head assembly, and automatic splice avoidance. Monochrome variable data printing continues to be available for text, barcodes, addresses, logos and graphics. Additionally, the system supports PDF/VT file formats, as well as a fluid system sized specifically for each system configuration to minimise floor space. The system uses 1200dpi Samba printheads for ‘outstanding’ image quality in font sizes as small as 2pt and 1D barcodes as small as 6.7mm.
In expanding Integrated Inkjet Solutions, Fujifilm is enhancing the availability of configurable options for high-volume printing in the commercial, speciality packaging and industrial sectors.
