US company FastCap has seen its productivity increase by 500% since installing a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+LM inkjet digital label press last year, and which is expected to assume 100% of the company’s print jobs in the future.
Located in Ferndale, Washington, FastCap is an award-winning lean manufacturer of unique household products, including more than 800 products designed to improve the daily lives of woodworking professionals and homeowners. It has over 2000 distributors in 40 countries.
FastCap is a first-time customer of Screen Americas and also new to inkjet overall. Installed in June 2020, the inkjet digital label press has allowed the company to improve productivity of its pint jobs by reducing the amount of time dedicated to any given job from roughly eight hours to closer to as little as seven minutes per job. As a consequence, multiple print jobs can be scheduled for a single day, and other areas of the business are able to be focused on and improved by virtue of time and resources being freed up.
Alongside productivity gains, FastCap has benefitted from the Screen press’ low migration capability, and the gains there when printing labels for food products, as well as optional white and orange colour channels to complement the standard CMYK colours.
FastCap previously operated inline web-fed flexo presses intermittently across a 50,000sqft facility. The company’s founder and CEO, Paul Akers, has been so impressed with the addition of inkjet, that he is now looking to move all of the company’s print jobs to the Screen press. Nearly two thirds of FastCap’s printing projects have already been transferred to the Screen Truepress Jet L350UV+LM press.
‘The quality is better, the ink is more durable and it is faster than my other presses,’ said Mr Akers.
