Boxes Inc has become the first company in the US to install a Highcon Beam 2C digital finishing system for corrugated applications.
The Highcon Beam 2C digital finishing system has been engineered to meet the stringent market requirements for corrugated packaging. It is available in two configurations: pallet-based and a nonstop version with feeder, stacker and waste removal.
Boxes Inc added the Beam 2C to its digital workflow primarily to support its Xceed online, customised packaging web-to-pack portal, but is now also expanding the machine’s use to support other more traditional parts of the business.
Jason Mueller, Sr, vice president, general manager at Boxes Inc, said, ‘We have installed a number of new machines over the last few years, and this was by far the easiest ramp-up I have had the privilege of being part of; within weeks we were routing and running 10 to 15 production orders a day on the Highcon.
‘We have benefited most from the speed to market improvements the Highcon system has provided. We no longer have the delay from ordering tooling. We have reduced our delivery time by more than 40%.’
Mike Ciaramella, Highcon’s vice president of sales and general manager, Americas, added, ‘The close relationship between Boxes Inc and our Highcon team has been key to the highly successful implementation of our technology. We look forward to continuing to support the business in the future.’
