Germany-based packaging group Edelmann has invested in Kurz digital embellishment technology in order to future-proof its business.
This has seen it commission a Kurz DM-Maxliner 3D. Developed by Kurz subsidiary Steinemann DPE, this system uses a modular concept with two different finishing units – digital metallisation, and digital spot coating as a relief with haptic effects. This enables a wide range of finishing, from delicate metallised lettering to spot highlights with a high-gloss surface and large area images with a texture.
Edelmann Group is a an internationally active provider of high-quality cardboard and paper packaging options for the healthcare, beauty and consumer brands.
Wolfram Hahn, global business development manager at Edelmann Group, explained, ‘For more than 100 years, the aim of the Edelmann Group has been to develop innovative and sustainable packaging solutions made from cardboard and paper with the highest quality standards.
‘The DM-Maxliner 3D sets new standards in terms of design freedom and process efficiency and was the obvious choice for us.
‘On the one hand, the system offers almost unlimited finishing options and is therefore ideal for strengthening the future-oriented positioning of our broad product portfolio. Secondly, the technology expands our options for providing packaging materials with sustainable, environmentally friendly effects.’
In recent years, Kurz has worked to expand its portfolio of machine systems in the field of digital finishing and continuously optimised them in close cooperation with its customers. In addition to standalone systems, the company develops finishing units that can be optimally integrated into existing printing systems.
Jordi Giralt, sales manager for digital embellishment at Kurz, said, ‘We are pleased to have Edelmann, a leading packaging manufacturer and system provider, among our customers and that the company is relying on our extensive experience in the field of digital print finishing. We are thus once again successfully proving that we are on the cutting edge with our complete solutions.’
Mr Hahn added, ‘We appreciate the fact that, in Kurz, we have a partner at our side who places as much importance on sustainability as we do.’
