Hull-based Displaypak has started using Jetrix inks when producing packaging for Nestlé. The company, which says it prides itself on offering sustainable packaging and display solutions, uses an LXi8 LED UV flatbed printer to produce the packaging products.
Displaypak says that the inks passed strict stipulations to fulfil safety and sustainability requirements and that their adoption builds on the work that Nestlé has been doing since the establishment of its food packaging Institute of Packaging Sciences in 2019.
Andy Dearman, managing director at Displaypak commented on the move. ‘We have had the Jetrix LXi8 for a while now,’ he said. ‘But being able to use it more extensively, particularly for food packaging, means that we can stretch the boundaries of what we use it for. This approval means we can use it for a multitude of our FMCG customers.’
This sentiment was echoed by Ben Woodruff, head of UK Jetrix Sales at InkTec Europe. ‘As our inks are self-developed by our research and development team based in South Korea,’ he added. ‘We know exactly what is in them. So, going through the process of providing the critical information and answering the myriad of questions involved was made simpler and easier. As a result, we knew they fulfilled the required food packaging criteria but it is even better to know they are being used to produce materials for a well-known brand like Nestlé.’
