Mark Andy has identified the introduction of digital hybrid printing machines over the last decade as a ‘turning point’ for the company in the label and packaging industry.

The proclamation comes as the US-based manufacturer celebrates its 75th anniversary, having been founded in 1946 when Mark Andrews, Sr. built his first tape press in his workshop in Missouri.

Fast-forward nearly eight decades, and the company has tens of thousands of machines in operation at customers around the world, largely flexo native systems but also a growing footprint of digital hybrid machines. These machines, such as Digital Pro and Digital Series HD ae marketed as ‘true hybrid’ systems as both the conventional and digital technologies belong to Mark Andy. The more recently announced Digital Series iQ combines Mark Andy’s flexo expertise with Domino’s inkjet digital printing heritage.

Prior to the addition of digital hybrid printing, other landmark developments in Mark Andy’s 75-year history include the introduction of the Mark Andy 2200 in 1990 and the creation of the Performance Series platform in 2009. More recently, a fully equipped showroom facility for in-person and online demos was launched in 2020. Strategic additions of various divisions under the Mark Andy umbrella over the years have further strengthened the company’s presence in the market. These include Presstek, Mark Andy Print Products and Rotoflex. Today, the company has a well-established global presence, employing over 450 people around the world, with facilities in the US, Canada, Poland and the UK, as well as an extensive network of global service technicians. Mark Andy is represented in more than 60 different countries.

Mark Andy CEO PJ Desai commented, ‘We are convinced that the growth of our customers will also ensure the growth of our company, something we will work hard on over the next few years, based on our 75 years of experience and knowledge we have while offering our customers as much support as possible. This, in addition to the technologically advanced machines in our portfolio that can meet the diverse needs of label stock manufacturers – will continue to differentiate us in the label and packaging industry.’
