Industrial Inkjet (IIJ) has helped US-based Hybrid Packaging and Label extend its capabilities by retrofitting an inkjet digital printing module to a flexo press.
Hybrid Packaging and Label prints in laser/fanfold/roll formats, and also offers smaller format flexible packaging. The company was started by Brian Zimmerman in Yucaipa, California in 2019, who laid out plans for the business as a specialist printer, and invested in a Mark Andy LP3000 flexo press to deliver this. The company also operates a digital press, with its workload currently split 60/40 in favour of flexo. To extend the capability of its Mark Andy press, Mr Zimmerman sought an option to add variable data at high speeds.
This led him to IIJ and its MonoPrint 422i retrofit option. The MonoPrint series is a range of compact industrial inkjet printing modules, capable of printing with a resolution up to 600dpi and at a top speed of 300m/min.
For Mr Zimmerman, ‘It was imperative to have a system that was robust enough for the production environment, and IIJ delivered. Our business was built on the ability to apply numbering at speed, so it was the technology we built our business on.’
He continued, ‘As we get market penetration, we are seeing more and more digital opportunities. When it comes to producing variable data or consecutive numbering, we tend to prefer the IIJ system. The IIJ module has given us the capability to meet our customers’ demands when it comes to quality at speed.’
