MHI, an international trade association representing material handling, logistics and supply chains, has introduced a new search tool to simplify finding and sourcing protective guarding equipment.

Protective guarding equipment is a fixture in all manufacturing plants across all industrial sectors. This includes print and packaging, where expensive machines and raw materials, as well as the people working in and visiting such environments, need to be protected.

Launched through MHI’s Protective Guarding Manufacturers Association (ProGMA), the protective guarding search tool serves as a search engine specifically for protective guarding equipment. ProGMA members are suppliers of fixed protective guarding products, designed to protect personnel, equipment and inventory in industrial facilities.

The protective guarding search tool, which can be accessed here, addresses the myriad protective guarding options that are available in the market, and assists end users in finding the correct products for their varying facilities. This ranges from bollards and column protectors, to pedestrian and facility guardrails, and many others.

ProGMA noted that in many instances, a facility manager knows that there is a safety issue but are not entirely sure what products would provide the needed protection. The ProGMA protective guarding search tool allows users to search by entering phrases, such as ‘Prevent falls from upper levels’, or by entering the product, like ‘loading dock safety gate’.
