Xeikon has introduced gold and silver metallic toners for use with its Cheetah 2.0 series of digital label presses. The new toners have been developed as part of the company’s strategy to focus on the label industry and develop application-tuned solutions.
Xeikon says that the addition of gold and silver options will allow for the embellishment of labels in a more cost-effective and less labour intense way than more traditional alternatives such as printing onto a metallic substrate or using a cold or hot foiling process.
‘The development of application-tuned toners empowers printers to create their own digital solution, allowing them to stand out from other print providers and remain competitive,’ explained Filip Weymans, Xeikon’s vice president of marketing. ‘With the Xeikon Metallic Gold and Silver toners, we continue our commitment to innovate in leading-edge technology and provide new opportunities for the label printing industry.’
Metallic Gold and Metallic Silver join Palladium Silver and Matt Silver in Xeikon’s ‘Creative Toner’ series. The colours, intended to provide a digital alternative to flexo printed gold or silver, fit in the fifth colour station of the Cheetah presses. Xeikon adds that the dry toner technology ‘allows for hassle-free colour swapping by just replacing the toner dosing unit and the developer unit.’ There is no extensive cleaning process required as the toner is dry, and a quick brushing with a vacuum cleaner is sufficient to be up and running between jobs.
The new metallic toners will be available from May 2022 for all Xeikon Cheetah 2.0 users. They will be demonstrated at the upcoming Xeikon Café Europe 2022, running across April 26-28.
