Southern Champion Tray (SCT) is to install a Landa S10 nanographic printing press, furthering the US-based packaging manufacturer’s ability to serve foodservice and retail clients with folding cartons.
Since 1927, SCT has been manufacturing and distributing paperboard packaging. Markets served include bakery, food service, frozen foods, supermarket, institutional, medical, pharmaceutical, personal care, cosmetic, retail, electronics, and others. With office, manufacturing, and distribution facilities located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Fairfield, Ohio, and Mansfield, Texas, the company adheres to global packaging standards and manages mandatory compliance with the strictest safety and environmental regulations from around the world.
By investing in the B1 digital sheet-fed press, SCT is anticipating its clients will benefit from high-speed production, offset quality output and unlimited data options. With the Landa S10 on its way to SCT’s folding carton production facility in Mansfield, the company’s COO, Roy Hibbs, explained, ‘We’ve used digital successfully for a few years and are excited to take advantage of Landa’s advanced capabilities. We expect the Landa to not only drive increased efficiencies and productivity, but new opportunities, too.’
Brad Haralson, the incoming general manager at the converter’s site in Mansfield, added, ‘We wanted B1 and we wanted speed. We have thousands of SKUs and need rapid response, personalisation, and flexibility – all for which the Landa is ideal. What’s more, its extended colour gamut is amazing and will provide customers with differentiation on the shelf.
‘But we also need our presses to be robust, as we have to work them hard. Having seen Landa put them through their paces, we knew that the S10 would meet our expectations.’
