Epson has developed two new models of inkjet printhead that support solvent inks, with I3200(8)-S1HD and S800-S1 compatible with a wide variety of inks used for industrial applications.

In addition to aqueous, UV-cured, and eco-solvent inks, these two new inkjet printhead models support oil-based, solvent and other types of inks for digital printing applications in production printing.

Whilst I3200(8)-S1HD can handle up to eight colours of ink and print at 300dpi, although resolutions up to 600dpi and 1200dpi can be achieved with four- and two-colour printing respectively, S800-S1 is a one-colour printhead with an achievable resolution up to 600dpi. Moreover, S800-S1 is equipped with only one chip to give it a compact design to improve productivity in printing environments where space is limited, as well as print in close proximity to substrates with a 3D/textured surface.

Available from April this year, these new products expand Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead series and enable the company to, ‘support an even broader range of industrial and other digital printing environments,’ This includes applications such as marking and coding, signage and printed electronics.

Epson stated, ‘The two new products will enable the implementation of inkjet printing technology in new fields, particularly in industrial printing applications. Epson will continue to develop original technology to contribute to the expansion of its customers’ businesses and further accelerate inkjet innovation.’
