EMT International, a company involved in finishing equipment and transport systems for the high speed, digital inkjet market, has expanded its assembly operations with an additional facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Located approximately six miles from its 70,000sqft machining centre and assembly facility in Hobart, the additional 12,000sqft space named ‘EMT 2’ has been in operation since the middle of December 2022, six months after signing the lease agreement.
The assembly expansion was in response to a request from one of EMT’s long-standing customers, to accommodate an increase in anticipated demand due to the introduction of a new product. EMT evaluated all options and determined that leasing additional space best aligned with timing of demand.
‘The swift integration of EMT 2 is the result of a team effort involving many departments within EMT and input from our customer,’ said Mark Weber, vice president of business excellence of EMT International. ’This Kaizen methodology and our employees’ pit crew mentality transformed EMT 2 into a highly visual and orderly work environment with lean manufacturing methods that align with EMT’s facility in Hobart.’
Brian Geurts, chief operating officer at EMT International added, ‘Moving the assembly operations and a number of team members to a different location was a significant undertaking. We appreciate everyone involved with the journey and working together to meet the ambitious implementation timeframe.’
