Spain-based Germark has added a Bobst Digital Master 340 to its production floor.
Germark is a respected label printing house that deploys various technologies to produce a variety of label types. Recent investments include the EcoLeaf metallisation technology and a Bobst Mouvent LB702-UV press, which was an early iteration of Bobst’s entry into the digital label printing market. The Digital Master series was introduced last year.
The new press will deliver fully finished labels to Germark’s high-end customers in the beauty and cosmetics market.
Running at up to 100m/min in up to six colours, plus optional digital white, Digital Master series presses are claimed to bridge the gap between traditional digital and flexo machines. Digital Master 340 has a 340mm print width, whilst a 510mm-wide version opens up, ‘new opportunities to expand application versatility into larger sized labels, industrial and chemical markets, wraparound, shrink sleeves, and other special applications.’
Germark CEO Iban Cid said, ‘We started our partnership with Bobst in 2020 when we installed the first inkjet press, and subsequently bought two Master M5 flexo machines. Our experience with these three investments has been excellent, so naturally we looked at the Digital Master series as the next step in the evolution of our production capabilities, as we move towards closer integration between digital printing and finishing.
‘We chose the Bobst Digital Master 340 because it offers the possibility of manufacturing printed rolls of adhesive labels in a single pass. Moreover, the Accucheck system guarantees 100% quality which was an important factor in making our decision. This will also help us to cut waste of materials and time, so we can deliver perfect labels with faster turnaround time and sustainable operation, which is what our customers demand.’
He added, ‘The objective for Germark is to automate more of the processes in our label production, so we can be more efficient, reduce waste and provide the best possible service to our customers. All four of our Bobst machines, both flexo and digital, play important roles in our strong future strategy for innovative and sustainable label production.’
